The company ‘BP’ has successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a series of the new and more potential customers for the company’s proposed clean hydrogen production facility in the region of Teesside based in the northeast region of the United Kingdom.
In the month of March 2021, the company has announced its plans for a clean hydrogen facility (H2Teesside) to be built in the region of Teesside, which is going to mainly focus on the aim for the production of around 1 Gigawatt of blue hydrogen in the hydrogen target of the United Kingdom by 2030.
The company has signed the new MoUs with treh CF Fertilizers, Sembcorp Energy UK and also the Mistubushi Chemical Corporation, and these companies are now seeking for the decarbonization of the existing operations in the regions for the purpose of switching the fuel from the natural gas to the clean hydrogen along with enabling the manufacturing factories of the companies for the production of low carbon products as the society is progressing towards a future of net zero emissions.
The company has also announced that, it has signed some initial MoUs for the purpose of supplying the hydrogen to Venator, chemicals manufacturer and the gas distributor known as the Northern Gas Networks.
Currently BP has signed several new MoUs with four of the potential customers along with the existing and planned new operations in Teesside for the hydrogen that has been manufactured by the project, and these MoUs can possibly be responsible for providing support and accelerating the development of the hydrogen cluster along with decarbonization of the industrial users in the area.
