Automobile

The electric drivetrain of the next generation for Volkswagen’s “ID” has been unveiled. Family EV. Dedicated APP550, the new electric powertrain will drive the back tires of ID. cars. The APP550 is said to be more efficient and perform better, increasing the ID’s range. The cars that can run on a single charge will be better than their predecessors while also having more power. The APP550 is tailor-made for Volkswagen’s MEB (Secluded Electric Drive) stage and will be carried out towards the year’s end, producing a pinnacle 210 kW (around 282 bhp) and 550 Nm of force.

They have been developing electric drive motors and their gearboxes for 15 years now, and have also been producing them at their location for over 10 years, said Alexander Krick, Head of Technical Development E-Drive, Power Electronics, and Transmission at Group Components. Alexander Krick added that, they were able to significantly improve efficiency by optimizing the entire system using, among other things, customized machining processes and special electrical sheets, drawing on our extensive knowledge and expertise.

The brand-new powertrain is loaded with cutting-edge technology that enables it to deliver the additional power while maintaining its efficiency. Depending on the gear ratio of the vehicle, the motor can produce up to 210 kW (282 bhp) and 550 Nm of torque. An improved stator with a greater effective number of windings and a larger wire cross-section generates the significantly higher torque, which ensures better power deployment at any speed and at no speed. Additionally, the rotor is outfitted with a permanent magnet that is stronger and has a higher load capacity.
