US DOE Announced Funding of $12-Million for Geothermal Energy Research Projects

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a funding of 12 million dollars for the seven geothermal energy research projects for the purpose of advancing the commercialization of the enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), that are the manmade reservoirs producing renewable and clean energy.

The selected geothermal energy projects have been a part of the efforts of the Department of Energy for the purpose of deploying the innovative solutions for providing help in achieving the goals of the US government for reaching net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2050 and a grid free of carbon by 2035.

Jennifer Granholm, US secretary of energy said, by tapping into the geothermal energy, which has been a reliable and clean energy source underneath their feet, that has been available in all the corners of the United States has been an important part of their plan for the purpose of expanding and diversifying the clean energy market of the country.

Jennifer Granholm also said, these ground-breaking solutions had been anticipating from the selected university and laboratory research teams that is going to be helping the United States to achieve a clean energy economy along with creating jobs and boosting the energy workforce of the United States of America.

This funding is going to provide help in developing and deploying the techniques and technologies, which are responsible for enabling the low-cost and efficient geothermal production of heat, and with this funding, the US DOE will be advancing its goals of reducing the costs of EGS.
