A group of seven organisations in the United Kingdom including Johnson Matthey, a battery materials company, and Britishvolt, a start up company and the Oxford University said, they had now formed a consortium for the purpose of developing the solid-state batteries for the electric vehicles.

This consortium is going to build a facility for the development of the prototypes and the technologies fir the large-scale production of the batteries in the solid-state, and it has also been including the Faraday Institution, which has been funded by the government of the country, that is mainly focusing on providing hep to the businesses of United Kingdom for the development and production of the batteries for electric vehicles.

Christian Gunther, head of the battery materials at Johnson Matthey said, delivering the enhanced range and safety to their customers is going to be a main driver for the adoption of the battery electric vehicle, along with providing support to the transition to a future of net zero emission.

The automobile companies are now racing for the development of the electric vehicles amid making the standards of the carbon dioxide emissions tighter in the regions of China and Europe and currently, the companies have been using the lithium-ion batteries, that has been consisting of an electrolyte in form of gel or liquid.

A number of automobile companies including BMW and Ford Motor are doing research in the technology of solid-state battery, which shall be able to store more energy, which basically means that, the electric vehicles should have greater driving range along with proving that it is safe.
