BMW To Use Sustainable Automotive Coatings By BASF At Its Plants

The Automobile company ‘BMW Group’ announced that, the company has chosen for using the coatings of BASF known as CathoGuard 800 ReSource e-coat at the plants of the company in the region of Leipzig, Germany and Rosslyn in South Africa and the also the iGloss Matt ReSource clearcoat through the continent of Europe.

By using these more sustainable product versions for the vehicle coatings has been enabling the avoidance of carbon dioxide of around 40 percent per coating layer and this is going to be decreasing the amount of the carbon dioxide emitted in the plants by over 15,000 tonne by the year 2030.

Markus Kamieth, member of the board of director directors of BASF said that, the biomass balance approach has been allowing them for making their coatings solutions which is even more sustainable at the time of retaining the same quality.

Joachim Post, a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, and is responsible for purchasing and supplier network said, by decreasing the company’s fossil raw materials and they can also conserve the natural resources and decreasing the emissions of carbon dioxide at the same time.

For the purpose of achieving this, they have been increasing the reliance of the company on the sustainable innovations in their supplier network and he also said that, the innovative paints based on the renewable raw materials have been an important step in the particular direction.
