Future Foods, an Introduction to Alternatives of Advanced Meat

Singapore based Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) along with GFI APAC (Good Food Institute Asia Pacific), which is a global non-profit organisation headquartered in the region of Washington DC, that mainly works to accelerate the innovation of alternative protein, are together going to a new undergraduate course in the of August 2021.

The course is named as ‘Future Foods’, which is going to be an introduction to the alternatives of Advanced Meat, and the course has also been aiming to equip the students at the Nanyang Technological University with the knowledge and expertise for the food industry, that will be focussing on the cultivated meat and alternative proteins.

The course is going to provide help for the purpose of developing the local talent for the alternative meats industries in the region of Singapore, as a regional appetite for the meat based on the plants and also with several other alternative proteins that are continuing to increase.

It has also been in the line with the national needs, as the alternative protein has also been identified as an integral part of the government of Singapore 30 by 30 goal for the purpose of producing around 30 percent of the nutritional needs of the country locally by the year 2030.

This newly introduced course is going to be the first such programme, that is going to be offered by a local tertiary institution, along with the first batch of the undergraduates, which will be enrolling in the month of August 2021, and the course is going to be offered as an elective to the students of third and fourth year, who are pursuing the degree programme of Food Science and Technology as a second Major.
