The drug regulator of United Kingdom has announced, several Types of the oral contraceptive pills can now possibly be sold over the counter at the various pharmacies without any need of the prescription, and the landmark decision should be responsible for making the access easier for the people, even though the buyers are still needing to have a consultation with the pharmacist.
The reclassification is going to be applied on to the two brands of the progesterone only pill including Lovima and Hana, and the pills with combination of progesterone and oestrogen is still requiring a prescription, and the move has now also been approved by the campaigners, that are saying that, the novel corona virus pandemic has made the already difficult situation even worse for those people, who are trying to access the services of contraception.
According to the doctors of sexual health, the services have now been stretched and are now underfunded for some time, and the pills Hana and Lovima, that mainly contains 75 mg of desogestrel, are still available for free on the prescription, and they should be taken once a day, along with no break between the packs.
If a dose of the pills is missed by more than 12 hours, the effect of the contraceptive pill might fail, and if taken in the right manner, the mini pill is actually more than 99 percent effective, which basically means that, one in 100 women using the pill will be getting pregnant in a year.
