On Thursday, 1st July 2021, the government of United States has announced the corona virus surge response teams, that are intended for combating the rapidly increasing Delta variant of the novel corona virus, by deploying the additional supplies and expertise to the covid-19 hot spots across the United States.
Jeff Zients, novel corona virus coordinator of US government said, these are dedicated covid-19 surge response teams working with all the communities at a higher risk for the people, who are already experiencing the outbreaks because of the spread of the Delta corona virus variant, along with the low covid-19 vaccination rates of the United States.
The Delta variant of the novel corona virus is now representing around one-quarter of all the confirmed novel corona virus cases in the United States of America and according to the public health experts, the delta variant is now the predominant covid-19 variant in the regions of Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas and Utah.
Rochelle Walensky, director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, in some regions of the United States of America, around one in two corona virus sequences is the Delta covid-19 variant.
The covid-19 surge response team are going to include a mixture of on-the-ground personnel, along with virtual support and also providing help in the deployment of additional supplies as they are requested by the local officials including the therapeutics and testing officials.
The staff is going to come from the Department of Health and Human Resources of US and from the CDC, which is the Federal Emergency Management Agency of United States of America.
