US CDC Head: Number of Omicron Variant Cases May Rise in US

Rochelle Walensky, director of the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said, the new Omicron covid-19 variant is likely going to increase in the United States and so far the variant has been found in around fifteen states of the country, but the majority cases in the country has been of the Delta corona virus variant.

Rochelle Walensky said, they know that, they are having several dozen cases of the new Omicron covid-19 variant and they are also following them closely, and they every day they are hearing about more cases of the variant being found in the country which is referring that, these cases are likely going to increase and she added that, more clinical is still going to be needed.

The states includes, Colorado, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Hawaii, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Washington. The state of Louisiana has also recorded Omicron variant case, and the case found in the state of New Jersey has also travelled to Georgia, who had also tested positive for the variant in the state.

Still, Rochelle Walensky said that, the Delta corona virus variant has been accounting for most cases across the United States and as the covid-19 vaccines are known for protecting the people from getting hospitalized and death, the health officials of the country are also hoping that, the vaccines can possibly reduce the impact of the Omicron variant also.
