Automobile

The automobile company ‘General Motors’ has now officially confirmed the launch of the company’s next generation hands-free, partially automated driving assistance system, which has been known as the ‘Ultra Cruise’. Just like the Super Cruise system, that has been introduced in the year 2017 that only allows the driver to use it on the divided highways, the new Ultra Cruise has been planned for working in 95 percent of all the driving scenarios when the company will launch it in 2023.

The Ultra Cruise system has been based on a significantly more powerful computing platform and it is also including more capable sensors including the lidar, and the executives of General Motors have now first referenced the Ultra Cruise two years back without giving more detail on the capabilities of the system. The biggest changes have been coming from the Super Cruise system have been with the addition of the lidar along with a new compute platform that has been using the current state of the art 5nm technology process.

This new system is also going to continue for being a so-called level two system that has been requiring the driver of the car to remain alert along with supervising the system every time.
