The health officials of the United States might have solved the mystery of how the four people from the different states of the country has been affected by a serious tropical disease even though none of them had travelled abroad, because of an aromatherapy spray, which has been imported from India.

On Friday, 22nd October 2021, the US CDC said, the investigators has found the same type of the bacteria that is responsible for causing the disease known as melioidosis, in a bottle of spray found in the homes of one of the patient, and the four people, who had been affected are from the states including Kansas, Georgia, Texas and Minnesota, and two of them, including one child in the state of Georgia have been died.

The US CDC said, it had been testing to confirm the bacteria in the bottle is having the same strain which was identified in all the four patients, and previously, the US CDC said, the lab analysis has showed that, all the four infections had been closely related. The spray found in the home of the Georgia patient had been made in India, and the bacteria’s genetic profile in the spray bottle has been similar to the strains, which are usually found in the regions of South Asia.
