General Motors to Establish Battery Innovation Center in Michigan, US

General Motors announced that, it is going to be investing for opening a battery cell development center, and the center is currently being developed or built in the region of Michigan and the main goal for this new facility is going to helpful for decreasing the cost of the lithium-ion batteries used in the electric vehicles along with supporting the company’s shift to the electric vehicles.

According to the report, General Motors has also been calling the company’s newest facility as The Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center and is also going to be completed soon and it is also located at the technical campus of General Motors based in the region of Warren in Michigan, USA.

The company also said, the expected date for the opening day has been by the middle of 2022, and by the last quarter of the opening year, the automobile developing company is also going to start building the prototype cells, and General Motors have also said that, it is going to be shelling out around 35 billion dollars until the year 2025 on the production and development of the electric vehicles along with the autonomous vehicles.

Doug Parks, executive vice president of purchasing, supply chain, and global product development at General Motors said, the Wallace Center is significantly going to ramp up the production and development of their next-generation Ultium batteries along with their ability for bringing the next-generation electric vehicle batteries in the market.
