UK Government Launched a strategy for a Hydrogen Economy

On 17^th August 2021, Kwasi Kwarteng, business and energy secretary of the United Kingdom said, tens of thousands of jobs, along with the investment of the billions of pounds and new export opportunities are going to be unlocked through the plans of the UK government for creating a thriving low carbon hydrogen energy in the country over the coming decade and beyond.

The first hydrogen strategy of the United Kingdom is driving forward all the commitments, that have been laid out in the ambitious 10-point plan of Boris Johnson, prime minister of United Kingdom for a green industrial revolution by setting out the foundation of how the government of United Kingdom is going to work with the energy sector for the purpose of meeting the country’s ambition for 5 gigawatts of the low carbon hydrogen generation capacity by 2030.

A booming hydrogen economy across the United Kingdom can possibly be worth 900 million pounds and it will also be creating more than 9,000 high-quality jobs by the year 2030, along with the potentially increasing to 100,000 and a worth of 13 billion pounds by 2030, and the hydrogen can possibly play an important role in the process of decarbonization of the energy-intensive and pollution causing industries including oil refineries, heavy transport, chemicals and power industries.
