Intel And Ericsson Launched Global Cloud RAN Tech Hub In US

The companies including Ericsson and Intel are pooling the Research and Development excellence for creating the high-performing Cloud RAN solutions and the companies have now launched a technology hub in the region of California, USA.

The technology hub is going to be focusing on the benefits that, the Intel technology and Ericsson Cloud Ran can bring for the purpose of improving the energy proficiency and network performance along with decreasing the time for marketing and monetizing the new business opportunities like the enterprise applications.

The new hub is called as Ericsson-Intel Tech Hub and the center is based in the D-15 facility in the region of Santa Clara and is already operational and the current focus including the activities in power management and performance that has been planned in 2022 as well as joint work on the Cloud RAN containerized network function applications on the upcoming generations of the processing platforms.

Per Narvinger, head of the Product Area Networks at Ericsson said, Cloud RAN technologies and virtualization is having some enormous potential for the purpose of impacting the networks of the future. He also said that, through this technology hub, they are going to be accelerating the Cloud RAN technology in the areas such as performance and energy efficiency during decreasing the time to market.

Dan Rodriguez, corporate vice president and general manager of Network Platforms Group at Intel said, the transformation for the completely virtualized along with networks based on the cloud natives that brings great innovation and agility, is now extending to the RAN technology.
