New Payments Feature of Instagram Lets Users to Buy Through DMs

Instagram will now let users to make purchases directly from the Direct Messages (DMs) or chats, on the platform. The platform owned by Meta has noted that selected and qualified small businesses will possibly support the feature, and once an order is placed through a chat thread, the user will also be able to make payment, and track the order, etc. all from the same thread.

The company said each week, around one billion people message a business across their family of apps, whether it is chatting with the brands, along with browsing products, interacting with stories, and asking for support. Instagram said they want to help people start conversations with businesses they care about and provide help in finding and purchasing new products in a seamless and easy experience.

It is still not clear how many businesses will be allowed to use the feature, even though Instagram said that it will give access to more businesses. The feature for making payments in the chats is also going to be expanded for more users in the future.

According to Instagram, the users will be able to message a business regarding any item they like and then make all other requests from the chat. This is also including the ability to track orders, along with follow-up questions, and many more.
