The company ‘Shell’ has recently announced that, it has been aiming to install 50,000 on the street electric vehicle charging points in the United Kingdom in the upcoming four years, and this move has been made in an attempt for the purpose of providing the network that is needed for hitting the climate change targets of the country.
Earlier 2021, the energy company ‘Shell’ has successfully acquired ubitricity, which is a leading supplier of the on-street electric vehicle charging points to the local authorities along with a network of 3,600 charger in the lamp posts of United Kingdom, and the sales of the new diesel and petrol vehicles are also going to be banned in the United Kingdom from 2030.
The company is enticing the local authorities of United Kingdom by offering them solutions for the purpose of meeting the upfront costs of the installations, that are not covered by the grants of the UK government, and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles is currently paying 75 percent of the total cost for installation.
According to an audit report, more than 60 percent of the households in urban areas of United Kingdom does not have the off-street parking, along with the number increasing to 68 percent for the purpose of social housing.
David Maclean, chairman of Shell UK said, it has been vital for speeding up the pace of the installation of the electric vehicle charger across the United Kingdom and this new goal and financing offering is designed for providing help to achieve that speed.
