Insect Expert Called for Banning Pesticides Used in Gardens and Urban Areas of UK

A leading insect expert in United Kingdom has called for a ban on the use of the pesticides in the urban areas and in the gardens across the United Kingdom for the purpose of protecting the human health, wildlife and the bees.

Dave Goulson, professor of biology at the University of Sussex, UK said, banning the chemical pesticides spraying in the 22 million private gardens of the United Kingdom along with the parks, road verges and several other green spaces, can possibly decrease the insect decline by creating a network of the habitats that are nature-friendly so that the insects can recover.

Professor Dave Goulson has filed a petition, in which he has urged the government of United Kingdom for the purpose of following the latest example of France, that has banned all the use of the synthetic pesticides in the public areas in 2017 and has also banned using the pesticides in the gardens from 2019.

Dave Goulson said, the use of the pesticides for the purpose of farming has been the main subject of the debate, and the government of UK can possibly make a strong argument which they probably need the pesticides if they are going to be feeding everyone in the country, but for now they really do not need the pesticides in their gardens, and there has been no economic for all of that, and it can possibly be a big step in the right direction.
