Puraffinity Receives Grant From Innovate UK For PFAS Treatment

Puraffinity has announced that, it has been awarded a grant of 1.5 million pounds from the Innovate UK, as a part of the Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) Programme of UK Research and Innovation. TFI grants fund research and development projects that has been demonstration of the foundational industries of the United Kingdom including semiconductors, metals and ceramics, cement and bulk chemicals.

Under the Innovation UK and Horizon 2020 grants, the company has developed several sustainable materials, which has been targeting the absorption of the highly challenging forever chemical pollutants including Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) starting from the water and wastewater.

The PFAS has been the manmade chemicals that are used for the decades across the foundational industries such as the chemical manufacturing and the cement industry along with the unregulated PFAS industrial discharges have been causing the significant detrimental environmental and the health impacts.

Puraffinity is going to be using the grant funds for increasing and refining the company’s adsorbent materials for the purpose of addressing the specific requirements of the chemicals foundational industries. The team is continuing to increase and also developing the staff of the company and has recently expanding into a new lab space for improving the throughput along with decreasing the emissions of greenhouse gases of the products of the company.

Henrik Hagemann, chief executive officer of Puraffinity said, the technology of the company has been targeting the foundational industries that is requiring the PFAS treatment at the source and the additional markets that are needing the removal of the large-scale PFAS.
