EDPR to Purchase 544-MW Solar and Wind Energy Sites in United Kingdom

The company EDP Renewables (EDPR) has now reached the agreements for the purpose of acquiring a 544-megawatt solar energy and wind energy portfolio in the United Kingdom, and the transaction has also been reached through the two separate agreements with the two renewable energy companies including the Wind2 and Vento Ludens for a total consideration of around 71 million pounds.

This deal is going to be a conditional till the successful achievement of the previously determined milestones for each of the project, and this portfolio is consisting of 5-megawatt operating wind energy farm, that has been commissioned in 2012 along with a feed of 20 years in tariff.

The deal is also including 192-megawatts of the wind energy projects under the overall development, that also includes 229-megawatts of the wind energy and 118-megawatts of solar energy.

Miguel, Stilwell d’Andrade, chief executive of EDP Renewables said, the agreement, which the company has reached in the United Kingdom, has been made as a part of their 2021-2025 business plan, and are an important milestone for the company, and he also said, United Kingdom has been an old acquaintance for the company ‘EDPR’, as they have been developing the offshore wind energy farms in the country for many years.

He said, by entering in the United Kingdom’s onshore market have opened up a new range of the possibilities for continuing to diversify their business, and this is also going to be a key energy market for them as they are going to continue to explore the opportunities, which will strengthen and add value to their leadership position in the renewable energy industry.
