Greencoat UK Wind (UKW), a British investment company, has agreed to buy a 12.5 percent stake in the 1.2 gigawatt Hornsea One offshore wind energy farm. UKW has purchased the stake in Hornsea One from the Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for an amount of 400 million pounds in May 2022.

At the time of the announcement, Shonaid Jemmett-Page, chairman of Greencoat UK Wind, said that, as owner of the leading independent wind farm in the United Kingdom, they are very happy to announce their investment in the largest offshore wind energy farm in the world.

He said, this acquisition will add another high-quality operating asset to their portfolio, and will increase their net generating capacity to more than 1.6 gigawatt. He added that they will continue to see an attractive pipeline of projects, including onshore and offshore. The company is strongly positioned to deliver more valuable acquisitions, and extends its track record of strong shareholder returns.
