The company ‘Clorox Co.’ said, it has now signed a VPPA (virtual power purchase agreement) Enel Green Power North America, for the purpose of supporting the company’s goal of 100 percent renewable electricity for the company’s operations across the United States and Canada.
The company said that, it is going to start for purchasing the renewable electricity starting in the year 2023 and when the deal goes into the effect, it has been expected for supplying around half of the renewable electricity that is needed for covering the operations of the company in the United States and Canada.
The company said that, it is first achieved 100 percent renewable electricity for the operations in Canada and the United States in the month of January 2021, which has been the very first VPPA with the Enel Green Power North America that went into the effect.
Clorox also said that, the deal has covered around half of the electricity needs of the company at the time and it also added that, it has been purchasing the renewable energy credits for covering the balance of the electricity demands of the company in the United States.
Clorox also said that, based on the current and expected electricity demands in the United States Canada of the company and this agreement has been intended for replacing the need for purchasing the RECs from the open market when the agreement will go into the effect.
