US CDC, Over 90% of People in US Can Ditch Face Masks

On 3 April 2020, a nurse takes a girl’s temperature at a Primary Health Care Centre in Beirut, Lebanon. Since 21 February 2020, when the first case of COVIR-19 was confirmed in the country, UNICEF has procured and delivered medical supplies to 194 Primary Health Care Centres. The supplies have included 650,000 pairs of gloves, 830,000 surgical masks, 34,000 N95 respirator masks, 26,750 gowns and 3,000 infra-red thermometers, among other health items such as goggles, head-covers and hand sanitizer. UNICEF has also provided over 215,000 litres of bleach, 5,200 litres of detergent and 1.3 million bars of soap to 260 social development centres and 1,200 public schools. Since the start of the outbreak, UNICEF has procured more than 90 percent of its COVID-19 supplies from Lebanese suppliers. Additional orders have been received and many more supplies will be delivered in the coming weeks. These results are part of UNICEF COVID-19 response in partnership with governmental, UN and civil society partners, including the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRM), municipalities, WHO, UNHCR, the Lebanese Red Cross and Balamand University. UNICEF is further procuring 4 custom made kits designed specifically for the COVID-19 emergency response: - 500 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits including gloves, surgical masks, N95 respirators, medical gowns, protective goggles and bleach for frontline workers. - 100 Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) kits that includes gloves, surgical masks, N95 masks, medical gowns, protective goggles, alcohol disinfectant, hand sanitizer, detergent, bleach, tissue paper and waste bags for health workers at primary healthcare centres. - 3,000 Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) kits for affected families that includes cleaning cloths, hand sanitizer, digital thermometers, alcohol disinfectant, medical cotton wool, soap, detergent, bleach, surgical masks, medical gloves, protective goggles, medical

On Thursday, 4^th March 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States said, over 90 percent of the people of the United States in the area where they are no longer needing to wear the facemasks.

The US CDC has also issued a new guidance that has been focusing on the serious disease from the novel corona virus and the hospitalizations when they have been making the recommendations on whether the facemasks are going to be needed or not.

This guidance from the US CDC has been broken into the three colour coded levels, and the people living in the green and yellow counties along with the covid-19 levels of medium and low respectively will not need to wear face masks. Although, the people in the yellow counties, who are at the high risk of the serious illness from the novel corona virus should possibly be consulting with physician regarding whether the people should wear a facemask or take some other precautions.

The people in the country are still required by the federal law for wearing the facemasks in the public transportation including trains, planes and server other modes, and the requirement of facemask for the planes has been expiring on 18^th March 2022, and the officials of the US CDC said that, they have been reviewing whether the requirement is still necessary or not.
