Johnson & Johnson Launches First Satellite Center for Global Health Discovery in Asia Pacific

Johnson & Johnson announced the launch of the new Johnson & Johnson Center for Global Health Discovery at the Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore. The centre is jointly established by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Duke University.

As being the first of the Johnson & Johnson Center for Global Health Discovery or J&J Centers in the region of Asia-Pacific, the Satellite Center at Singapore is aiming for providing help in driving the new solutions for the purpose of addressing the flaviviruses, which are impacting the communities across the Asia-Pacific region by bringing together the expertise Johnson & Johnson.

This launch of the Satellite Center comes at a critical time. Over 400 million people have been infected with the flaviviruses each year and around 50% of the global population is at risk, with the continent of Asia experiencing around three quarters of the global burden.

Ruxandra Draghia-Akli, Global Head, Global Public Health R&D at Janssen Research & Development, LLC, said Singapore has been one of the epicentres of the dengue threat and also a leading innovation and research hub, which has made Duke-NUS a natural match for the vision of the company to address the flaviviruses by advancing innovative science.
