England Appoints Leicester’s Steve Borthwick as Head Coach of Men’s National Rugby Team

England has appointed Leicester’s Steve Borthwick as the new head coach of the men’s national rugby team, nine months before the World Cup begins in France. Steve Borthwick has been joined by defence coach Kevin Sinfield, who he has worked with at Leicester since 2021. Steve Borthwick has joined the England national rugby team on a five-year contract.

Steve Borthwick said that he wants the whole country to be proud of them and to enjoy watching them play. Borthwick added that, he knows pride will count for nothing if they do not deliver the results, and he wants to shape a team that inspires the young generation.

Borthwick’s first match in charge will be the Six Nation’s opener against Scotland on February 4, 2022 and the Rugby Football Union of England said that the rest of Borthwick’s coaching team would be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Steve Borthwick added that he is deeply honoured to be appointed as England’s head coach, and he is very excited by the new challenge. Borthwick continued by saying that the game is full of talent and he wants to build a winning team that makes the most of its potential and inspires young people to fall in love with rugby union.
