A group of Taylor Swift fans is suing Ticketmaster over the issues during ticket deals for the singer’s 2023 Eras US tour. Due to high demand on its ticketing systems and a lack of available tickets, Ticketmaster was forced to postpone the tour’s ticket sale dates until November 2022.
The fans are suing the tagging organization and its parent organization ‘Live Country’ for cost fixing, antitrust infringement, and misrepresentation, charging that deliberate duplicity has permitted scalpers to buy most of the tickets.
Ticketmaster had put tickets up for sale in advance of the planned public sale through its Verified Fan program. This program is designed to get rid of bots and requires ticket buyers to register ahead of time with their preferred dates and cities.
The company claimed that more than 3.5 million people had signed up for the programme, and it had sold more than 2 million tickets that day, and it had also received more than 3.5 billion system requests.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the superior court of Los Angeles County, claims that millions of fans had to wait approximately eight hours before they could purchase tickets because there were insufficient ticket releases.
The group of fans has accused Ticketmaster of stating that it has taken important steps to fix the problem, but in reality, the company has done that so it can make more money selling scalped tickets. Additionally, the fan group claimed that scalpers and bots were able to remove tickets from a customer’s basket before the sale was complete.
