Mercedes-Benz India to Launch EQB, GLB on December 2, 2022

Mercedes-Benz will launch two of its entry-level 7-seat SUVs for India on December 2, 2022. The GLB and its fully-electric sibling, the EQB will be launched on the same day. Mercedes-Benz has also started accepting new bookings for its models.

Both the EQB and the GLB SUVs are based on the same MFA2 platform. The new GLB in India will come in three variants, including the entry-level GLB 200, the GLB 220d 4Matic, and GLB 220d. The GLB 200 petrol will come with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, a seven-speed automatic, and the GLB 220d will come with a 2.0-litre power plant mated to an automatic speed transmission.

The EQB, which is the first 7-seater electric vehicle in India, will be the third electric offering of Mercedes Benz in India, after the EQC SUV and the EQS sedan. The car shares most of its body panels and overall look with its counterpart, the GLB, but it has a few EQ-specific styling differences, such as a front grille and unique headlight design, among others.

On the inside of the cars, except for a splash of gold paint on the vents such as the turbine, the interior of the EQB looks identical to the GLB. The EQB fully-electric SUV will be sold in the entry-level EQB 300 guise, and also makes 228hp and it comes with a 66.5 kWh battery, which offers a range of around 419 kWh.
