Safex Chemicals Acquire UK-based Briar Chemicals

Safex Chemicals India Ltd., an agrochemical company, said that it has acquired UK-based Briar Chemical for 73 million pounds from a pan-European investment company, AURELIUS Equity Opportunities. The director of Safex Chemicals India Ltd, has joined the board of Briar Chemicals and will also improve the future growth of the company.

Piyush Jindal, director of Safex, said that they are very happy to enter the United Kingdom by acquiring the UK’s leading agrochemical CDMO provider, and this addition of Briar Chemicals to the crop protection business of Safex will strengthen their position in the agrochemicals market globally.

Briar Chemicals is the first international acquisition of Safex, and it forms part of the company’s strategy to expand globally in step with the substantial growth of the agrochemicals market worldwide, which is all set to increase in value by more than 11 percent from 62.3 billion dollars in 2022 to 69.4 billion dollars in 2026.

Briar Chemicals is the United Kingdom’s leading agrochemicals Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) solutions provider, and it serves as the most innovative agrochemicals companies in the world. Briar Chemicals was launched as a carve-out transaction from Bayer CropScience in 2012, and it operates from a manufacturing site that includes lab-scale to large scale reactors, with available infrastructure and space to expand in the future.
