Reports: UK, Europe and US Records Severe Cases of Hepatitis Among Children

According to an investigation launched by the World Health Organization (WHO), around 74 children under the age of 10 years have been reportedly detected with the disease in the United Kingdom. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States said, it has been investigating the cases in the region of Alabama including in the other states.

The disease ‘Hepatitis’ has been an inflammation of the liver and is also caused because of the several factors including the viral infections, and the World Health Organization (WHO) said that, around nine children in the United Kingdom had fallen sick including one in the month of January 2022.

The United Nations health body said that, it had notified that around 10 cases of serious acute hepatitis of the unknown aetiology in the children under the age of 10 years across the central region of Scotland and on 8^th April 2022, 74 cases of hepatitis had been identified in the United Kingdom.

WHO said that, no deaths have been reported at the time of informing that, the United Kingdom has recently observed an increase in the adenovirus activity, which has been co-circulating with the novel corona virus although, it has added that, the role of these viruses in the pathogenesis has not been clear yet. The WHO has also launched the investigations in the countries like Ireland and Spain.
