US DOE Announced $34-Million Fund to Advance Algae and Waste Bioenergy Technology

On 3rd August 2021, the Department of Energy (DOE) of the United States have announced around 34 million dollars in the funding for the 11 projects that is going to be responsible for providing support to the high-impact research along with the development for the purpose of improving and production of the biopower, biofuels and also the bioproducts.

These types of the biomass resources, which are also known as the feedstocks, can possibly be produced by the MSA (municipal solid waste) streams and algae, that are later converted into the low-carbon fuels which can significantly be responsible for contributing to the process of decarbonization of the transportation industries, which are going to face the barriers to the electrification such as the marine and aviation.

Jennifer Granholm, secretary of energy of US said, starting from the food waste to the yard trimmings, the biomass technology has been responsible in converting their everyday trash into the low-carbon fuels for the ships and planes at the time of decreasing the costs of the energy and providing support to the country’s critical transport industry.

Jennifer Granholm also said, the universities and companies have been leading the biomass technology projects that are going to make sure that their cutting-edge biofuel technologies for decreasing the emissions of carbon dioxide, along with the creation of the new jobs on the supply chain, which has been made in the United States of America and by the workers of the United States.
