Massachusetts Grants $1.6 Million in Development of Offshore Wind Energy Workforce

A clean energy agency of Massachusetts has awarded a grant of 1.6 million dollars to the eight offshore wind energy workforce training programs, and each of which has been focusing on a specific obstacle that might be responsible in preventing the people of the low-income and the people of color from the purpose of pursuing the jobs in the industry.

Druce Carlisle, managing director for the offshore wind energy at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Centre said, they have always wanted to raise the game a little bit, and they have also made a conscious effort in the year 2021 that they had been going to focus exclusively on the issue.

According to the analysis made by the Wind Energy Association, the offshore wind energy industry can possibly be responsible for creating as much as 83,000 jobs across the United States of America and for also pumping around 25 billion dollars into the economy of the United States by 2030.

Many communities along with the environmental groups have been continuously pushing for the purpose of ensuring the low-income people, people of color and several other marginalized groups are having an equal chance for participating in the benefits of a new and promising industry.

Susannah Hatch, coalition director of clean energy for the Environmental League of Massachusetts said, the existing energy system in the United States has been overburdening the communities of color, that are often facing more pollution along with high rates of the disease related to the respiratory system.
