Alfa Romeo to Develop Big Car in the US

Jean-Philippe Imparato, head of the brand, said on Friday that Itay’s Alfa Romeo will work on a new large car that will be released in the United States in 2027. He added that the company had not yet decided where to manufacture it.

According to Imparato, this step was essential for adapting the design for international markets, bolstering Alfa Romeo’s position as Stellantis’ international premium brand.

During a media call, he stated that their offer for a large vehicle must appeal to American, Chinese, and European markets.

Even though Alfa Romeo is not sure if the new model will be an SUV, crossover, or sedan, Imparato says that it probably won’t be a traditional big SUV like the BMW X5 or X6. Imparato claims that by the end of the year, they will decide regarding the ideal mix. According to Imparato, just because the car was developed in the United States does not mean that it will be manufactured in the Nafta region.

Delivering in the US is not something they have chosen and it is something they would rather not choose now, he added.
