Jamie Lee Curtis to Receive AARP Award

Jamie Lee Curtis, who is known as Scream Queen, will be the recipient of the AARP career achievement honor at The Magazine’s Movies for Grownups Awards. Jamie Lee Curtis will be receive the honor at the annual Best Movies and TV of AARP for Grownups ceremony. Alan Cumming returns to be the host of the ceremony that will telecast on PBS.

The increasing and longstanding career of Jamie Lee Curtis shatters the outmoded stereotypes of Hollywood about aging, and it also shows what AARP’s Movies for Grownups program is all about, says Jo Ann Jenkins, CEO of AARP. Since accepting the role of Laurie Strode in Halloween in 1978, and also the blockbuster indie film Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2022.

Jo Ann Jenkins said that they are very happy to honor Jamie Lee Curtis, who became an iconic scream queen in the movie Halloween at the age of 19 years, and she then grew up to be a master in dramatic and comic roles.

Jamie Lee Curtis said that she was looking forward to a new beginning in Hollywood, and she now have the opportunity to have a creative life that she had dreamed about her whole life, but never had the foothold for it. The other credits for Curtis’ success include True Lies, Freaky Friday, A Fish Called Wanda, and several other television series including Scream Queens.
