Tesla Launches Full Self-Driving Beta in North America

According to the reports, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta is now available to all the owners who have ordered the Full Self-Driving package in North America, and is no longer limited to the drivers with a high score of safety.

Full Self-Driving Beta enables the EV giant to drive autonomously to a destination entered in the navigation system of the car, but the driver needs to remain vigilant and ready to take control at all times. Since the responsibility totally depends on the driver and not on Tesla’s system, it is still considered a level-2 driver-assistant system.

FSD has been made of two steps, including one step ahead and one step back type of program, as several updates will see regressions in terms of the driving capabilities. Frequently, Tesla has been releasing new software updates to the FSD Beta program to improve performance with the goal of becoming safer than human drivers.

For the last six months, there have been more than 100,000 owners of Tesla in the program, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that FSD Beta will be available to every owner who purchased FSD Beta in North America by 2022 end.

Elon Musk said that the wider release is part of the FSD Beta v11 update that merges FSD software stack of Tesla with its autopilot. Tesla is also widening the launch of the current version until all Tesla car owners with FSD receive it.
