Electrify America Announced Partnership For EV Charging Network

Electrify America has announced that, it has now entered into a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for 15 years with the energy developer ‘Terra-Gen’ for the purpose of building a solar photovoltaic renewable energy production in the region of San Bernardino County, based in California known as Electrify America Solar Glow.

This new solar energy project has been expected for generating 75 Megawatts (MW) at peak solar capacity or an expected annual production of 225,000 megawatt hours and it is also projected for producing 100 percent renewable energy annually for more than offset the energy that is currently delivered on the extensive network. The solar energy project has been targeted for being operational by mid of 2023.

While becoming the biggest open Network in the region of North America for the purpose of entering into a VPPA, Electrify America is going to be supporting the main sustainability goal of the additionality, which means that, this arrangement is going to result in the new and additional production of the renewable energy.

The company is also purchasing and retiring all the bundled environmental certificates that are associated with the new solar energy project for a period of 15 years, which is shifting away from the usual business approach of purchasing the environmental certificates from a third-party supplier on the basis of less support for the additional renewable energy production.

Giovanni Palazzo, CEO and president of Electrify America said, the business model and purpose of the company have always been at the forefront of the efforts for the purpose of decreasing the emissions through enabling the electric mobility.
