Nissan Planning To Third Automobile Plant In US To Meet EV Demand

Nissan has been considering to add a new automobile manufacturing plant in the United States for keeping up with the increasing demand for the electric vehicles, as said by a top executive of automobile company.

Ashwani Gupta, chief operating officer of Nissan Motor Co. said, it might not be a surprise that they are going for a third manufacturing plant and the company is now having two automobile plants in the United States including one in Canton, Mississippi has been producing the Titan pickup truck and the Altima sedan among the several other models.

The other plant in the region of Smyrna in Tennessee has been making the Leaf electric car and several other models. Each of the automobile plants has been employing thousands of workers and has also produced millions of the vehicles of the company ‘Nissan’.

This third plant of Nissan will not just be adding the assembly line to existing plant but a total new facility, even though it might be building as an extension of an existing plant. He also said that, it is going to be adding several thousand jobs in the area and however its realization is going to some years in the future.

Ashwani Gupta also said that, the importance of localization is going to be increasing per year and depending in the region, the customers might also receive incentives for buying the electric vehicles and the continuous fluctuating rates of foreign exchange might also make the localized production more desirable.
