Kellogg’s Accused UK Government For Being Unreasonable For HFSS Restrictions

Kellogg’s UK has now accused the UK Department of Health and Social Care of allegedly failing for entering into a reasonable conversation for considering what the addition of yoghurt or milk is going to be having on the nutritional value of a bowl of the breakfast or cereal.

According to the company, the regulations have been restricting the promotion of the products that has been deemed high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) have been skewed. The company also said that, the independent market data has been showing that, the breakfast cereals have been actually eaten with yoghurt or milt in around 92 percent of the cases, which is mainly changing the nutritional profile of the meal.

The company also contends that, including the added milk changes calculation by decreasing the proportion of salt and sugar content relative to the weight of the complete serving.

Chris Silcock, managing director of Kellogg’s UK said, the now believe that, the formula of being used by the government of the United Kingdom for measuring the nutritional value of the breakfast cereal has been wrong and has not been implemented legally and it is also measuring the cereals dry when they are almost eaten with milk.

He also said, all this important because unless it should be taken into account of the nutritional elements added when the cereal has been eaten with the milk, and the complete nutritional value of the meal is not measured yet.
