Report: BMW and McLaren May Partner To Develop Electric Sportscar Platform

According to the reports, BMW and McLaren might jointly be developing an electric sports car platform, and in the past, both the automobile companies has joined the hands and they had spawned the legendary F1 of McLaren and for this car, the company ‘McLaren has designed the supercar and BMW has developed the V12 powertrain.

According to the report, the another competitor of BMW, Audi is also interested in acquiring the part of the McLaren F1 team and although, this time the responsibility of BMW is going even going to be higher than the past collaboration between these two companies.

This time, the companies are going to be working together on a platform, which they are planning to use for underpinning several electric cars in the upcoming days, and these electric sports cars are going to be under both the brands including McLaren and BMW.

The report is also claiming that, McLaren and the BMW Group have been continuing their discussions and has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 24th March 2022 about the joint development of an architecture for the electric sports cars.

BMW has also cleared the ambition for the purpose of grabbing a sizeable share in the electric car market and after launching the standard electric cars, the company ‘BMW’ has now been focusing on the high-performance of the electric sports cars.
