High Levels of Cancer Linked Chemicals Found in Drinking Water Systems of New Jersey

The environmental officials of the United States said that, there are dozens of the water systems in the region of New Jersey that had been serving a combined 500,000 residents has been exceeding a new stringent standards in the year 2021 for the PFAS, which has been a family of the chemicals that have been linked to the serious diseases like cancer and several other ailments.

The higher levels had also been found in the 34 community water systems, that has been including several water system in the region of Bergen County that has now been facing some millions of dollars in the expenses for the purpose of purchasing the equipment for filtering.

The Middlesex Water Company, which has been the largest provider which is exceeding the standard in the region that has been serving 233,000 people in the region, and most of the costly clean-up has also been borne by the water system and most of which are now owned by the municipalities across the region.

The officials of New Jersey have still been formulating a clean-up program across the state, but a lot of the hinges on the lawsuits that have filed by the Murphy administration and the several other companies that have used the PFAS chemicals for the decades in the process of manufacturing the everyday products like the polishes, non-stick plans, paints, waxes and also cleaning products.
