UK’s Virgin Media O2 to Conduct 4G, 5G Trials with Samsung Electronics

United Kingdom’s Virgin Media O2 is going to be conducting trials with the company Samsung electronics for the purpose of verifying the performance and capability of the 4G and 5G network systems in the company’s commercial network in the United Kingdom.

The Virgin Media O2 generally claims 47 million connections across the mobile, broadband, TV and home phone in the United Kingdom and the company also offers connectivity services, along with the digital solutions and applications of the businesses across the United Kingdom and also the private sector organizations in the country.

During the trials, both the companies are going to set out for the purpose of demonstrating the performance and capability of the 4G and 5G networks, and it is also going to be assessing the interoperability between the new and latest systems of Samsung Electronics and 2G and 3G legacy networks of Virgin Media O2.

For the trial, Samsung Electronics is going to provide company’s advanced solutions, which is including the company’s baseband unit, along with the 5G Massive MIMO radios, and also the 4G radios on both the mid and low band spectrums, while being the Open RAN complaint with the additional support and configuration changes in the future.

Jeanie York, chief technology officer at Virgin Media O2 said, the vendor diversity has been very crucial for the development of secure, safe and more efficient networks, and they are also looking forward for undertaking the initial trials with the Samsung Electronics that has been another milestone in the company’s continued journey for providing the best possible 4G and 5G experience for their customers across the United Kingdom.
