The automobile company ‘Ford’ has now been partnering with the company ‘Redwood Materials’, an EV recycling start-up company for reusing the raw materials from the pacts of electric vehicle battery.
The partnership, that is going to start initially along with the recycling the scrap material from the manufacturing of the battery, which has been the latest indication that the automakers have been taking the steps for addressing the supply along with the cost of the raw materials, which had been needed for manufacturing the batteries for the electric vehicles.
Lisa Drake, chief operating officer of Ford said, this partnership is going to help them to decrease the reliance on the importing of a lot of the materials, which they have been using today, when the are going to be building the batteries, and then it is also going be decreasing the mining of the raw materials, which has been very important in the future as they have been starting to scale-up.
Lisa Drake also said that, by making the domestic supply chain has really been a major step towards making the electric vehicles that are more accessible and more affordable to everyone, and with the sale of the electric vehicles in the United States, which are expected to increase from an estimated 350,000 automobile in the year 2021 to over a million per year by 2025, and according to the research, the company has been increasingly focused on the life cycle of the batteries of the electric vehicles.
