Honda and Toyota Oppose Electric Vehicle Tax Plan of US House

The Automobile companies including Honda Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp., have been criticizing a proposal made by the democrats in the United States House of Representatives for the purpose of giving an additional tax incentive of 4,500 dollars to union-made electric vehicles in the United States of America.

Toyota said, the plan, which was revealed has been responsible for discriminates against the automobile workers of the United States based on their choice for not to unionize, and the bill has been set to be voted on Tuesday, 14th September 2021, by the House Ways led by the democrats and also the Means Committee as a part of a proposed spending bill of 3.5 trillion dollars.

The company ‘Honda Motors’ said in a statement that, the bill is unfair, and it is responsible for discriminating between the electric vehicles produced by the hardworking automobile workers of the United States based on whether they belong to a union or not, and the production associated of Honda Motor Co., in the regions of Ohio, Indiana, and Alabama deserve an equal and fair treatment by the government.

The proposal, which is estimated to cost around 33 billion to 34 billion dollars for more than 10 years, is going to be responsible for boosting around 12,500 dollars, which has been the maximum credit of tax for the electric vehicle, that is increased from the current tax credit of 7,500 dollars, and the new 12,500 dollars tax credit also includes a credit of 500 dollars for using the batteries manufactured in the United States.
