Reports: BMW Installed 4,350 EV Charging Points To Date in Germany

According to the reports, the BMW Group has exceeded the company’s target of 2019 for installing around 4,100 charging points at the company’s locations in Germany by the end of 2021, and together with the partner of BMW ‘Eon’, the company has been successful in installing around 4,350 electric vehicle charging points across Germany.

The company BMW is now expecting to increase this number to around 5,000 by the end of the year 2021, out of which, over 1,000 charging points are going to be eRoaming-capable. This achieved target was from 2019 when both Eon and BMW had announced the plans for installing more than 4,100 electric vehicle charging points in the regions of Germany by 2021, which was primarily intended for the employees around half of the charging points, that are also going to be accessible to the common people.

The company has now increased its said target and majority of the charging points in Germany are consisting of AC wall boxes, which are responsible in delivering around 11 kilowatts, and additionally, over 60 DC fast charging stations along with the capacity of 50 kilowatts are also going to be a part of the network, and all the electricity solely comes from the sources of renewable energy.

BMW also said, it had been planning to drive the international expansion of the company, but it has yet to specify the countries, and the locations of the charging points in Germany include Munich, Landshut, Dingolfing, Wackersdorf, Leipzig, Regensburg, Eisenach and Berlin.
