On 24th June 2021, a new high-tech lab is being launched in the United Kingdom for the purpose of accelerating the development of the 5G communication kit and also providing help in diversifying the supply chains of United Kingdom.

The 1-million pounds SONIC Labs, backed by the government of United Kingdom is going to help in increasing the speed of the adoption of the Open RAN technology, that has been mainly considered for being a key aspect for the 5G Diversification Strategy of UK government. The SONIC Lab is going to serve as a real-world technology testing facility, which is intended to bring several companies in the country to supply the components for the equipment of 5G Radio technology. The SONIC Labs are also going to allow the companies producing telecom infrastructure for analysing how their network kits are working in the interoperable and technology neutral mobile network.

Matt Warman, Digital Infrastructure Minister of United Kingdom said, he is thrilled that, the SONIC Labs has been opening its doors for making the telecoms expertise more wealthier than they are having in the United Kingdom for the purpose of exploring new and innovative ways for building the 5G networks across the country, and their investment has been a crucial element of their strategy for tackling reliance of the world on the small vendors of the telecom equipment.
