Data: Supercar Sales Increased in the United Kingdom

The official figures showed wealthy people in the United Kingdom splashing out on more luxury supercars than ever before. More than 18,000 supercars including Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, Aston Martin, and Koenigsegg models, were registered at addresses in the United Kingdom in 2021, a 19% increase from the previous year.

Prices range from hundreds of thousands to over one million pounds, but concerns about the cost of living and economy crisis for those on lower incomes have done nothing to dampen interest in supercars.

According to UHY Hacker Young, an accountancy firm, that compiled the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency figures, wealthy people appear to have adopted a mindset of ‘you only live once’ and have been more willing to spend on the luxury items such as supercars.

David Kendrick, working at UHY Hacker Young, said after a very difficult COVID-19 pandemic period, a lot of wealthy individuals treated themselves to a supercar in 2021. He said, the wash of money from the central banks and government into the economy has inadvertently helped sales of supercar in unexpected ways, like cryptocurrency millionaires and low-cost financing for supercars.

With 11,954 cars on the road, Ferrari was the most popular supercar brand,. Although Lamborghini ownership has been increased by the fastest of any supercar, along with an increase of 59 percent to 2,419 in 2021.
