Mercedes Benz Issues Recall of Over 1-Million Cars Across the Globe

The automobile company ‘Mercedes-Benz’ has announced that, it has been immediately recalling around one million older vehicles across the world because of the potential problem with the braking system of the cars.

The federal transport authority (KBA) of Germany said that, the affected cars built between the year 2004 and 2015 of the SUV series ML and GL and also the R-Class luxury minivan. The company has recalled 993,407 vehicles across the world, which is also including around 70,000 vehicles in Germany.

The KBA said that, the corrosion on the brake booster can lead to the connection between the brake pedal and the braking system is also being interrupted, and it also said that, as a consequence and the service brake can also stop functioning.

Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed that, the move had been based on the analysis of the isolated reports for some of the vehicles. Mercedes-Benz said that, in some of the are cases of very serious corrosion, it might be possible for a strong braking manoeuvre for the purpose of causing a mechanical damage to the brake booster, whereby the connection between the brake system and brake pedal will fail.

The company also said that, in such kind of rare cases, it is not going to be possible for not accelerating the vehicle through the service brake and thus, the risk of a crash is going to be increased. Mercedes-Benz also said that, it is going to start with the recall immediately and also contacting the owners of the vehicles that are affected potentially.
