Siemens Gamesa Placed Two US Plants In Hibernation

Siemens Gamesa is putting the company’s Ford Madison, lowa, blade manufacturing plant and the Hutchinson, Kansas, nacelle assembly facility in the United States into the temporary ‘hibernation’, which is starting in the month of June and July 2022 respectively. The measures have been taken to the address challenges in the production demand for the onshore wind energy market of the United States.

All the effected employees is going to be provided with a comprehensive separation package, which is including severance pay, career counselling, benefits continuation, preparation of resume and job placement assistance as said by Siemens Gamesa.

The company said that, they are continuing to pursue new orders and also remain fully committed for finding a path in the support of their Fort Madison and Hutchinson manufacturing facilities across the region.

Siemens Gamesa said that, the patent challenge against the features of the company’s onshore wind turbines in 2021 that is brought by GE had meant that, even though the International Trade Commission ultimately has rules in the favour of the former and it had been unable for pursuing the orders during that particular period.

The company added that, since then, the wind energy market in the United States for the onshore wind has been decreased in the anticipation of the new climate legislation and accompanying the renewable energy incentives. The company said, the hibernation of the two facilities is not reflecting the excellent work done by the teams at the locations of the sites.
