Pfizer to Provide Medicines at Manufacturing Costs to Poor Countries

On Wednesday, 25th May 2022, Pfizer said, riding high on the unprecedented success of the company’s corona virus that is going to be making 23 of its medicines and most of them have been patented and will be available for 45 of the low-income countries at the manufacturing price.

Pfizer has now revealed the initiative, which has been known as An Accord for a Healthier World during the World Economic Forum (WEF) this week in the region of Davos, Switzerland. The initiative has been designed for decreasing the health inequities that mainly exist between most of the low-income countries and the rest of the word.

During the novel corona virus pandemic and those inequities has become painfully apparent as the wealthy countries had been the first for being supplied along with the products for combating the disease. As the company has been profiting most from the corona virus pandemic and Pfizer has drawn sharp criticism for the uneven distribution of the shots and for the primary resisting calls for sharing the company’s intellectual property rights.

Under the new program, Pfizer is going to be supplying the Comirnaty to the poor countries as well as its novel corona virus antiviral Paxlovid and this initiative has been designed for reaching 1.2 billion people living in the 45 countries and Pfizer has also urged several other companies for joining the effort.
