According to a study conducted in the United Kingdom, a third dose of the novel corona virus vaccine of AstraZeneca has been effective against the symptomatic disease and hospitalization, which will be offering protection comparable to a booster covid-19 shot of the preventive of Pfizer.
The study has also assessed the effectiveness of the corona virus booster shot of the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and has also compared it with the protection that is offered by the covid-19 vaccine booster shots of Pfizer. The researchers from the Health Security Agency of the United Kingdom based in London, has estimated the corona virus vaccine effectiveness by analysing the data on all the adults aged above 18 years of age, who had been vaccinated with the primary vaccine of AstraZeneca and wither the same booster vaccine of Pfizer.
According to the study, a total of 43,171 individuals has received a booster dose of AstraZeneca vaccine and 13,038,908 individuals has received a booster dose of the vaccine developed by Pfizer.
The results has also been showing that, after 25 weeks or more since the primary vaccination along with AstraZeneca, and the effectiveness of the corona virus vaccine against the symptomatic disease post the Omicron infection had been 8.0 percent among the individuals between the age of 40 to 64 years and 65 years and above respectively.
The team has also observed comparable levels of protection against the symptomatic infection among the individuals aged 65 years and above.
