FirstLight Power, a leading clean energy provider of the renewable energy and energy storage resources company has announced that, the company has now acquired two hydroelectric facilities from the H2O Power based in the Western Pennsylvania. H2O is a leading owner and operator of the hydroelectric facilities based on Ontario, Canada.
Located on the Allegheny River, both the facilities Allegheny 8 and Allegheny 9 have been the two run-of-river hydroelectric facilities that have provided a source of the reliable and clean energy to the region for more than three decades.
Currently, the facilities have been providing their hydropower to the market of New York under a low term power purchase agreement along with the New York State Electric and Gas Company (NYSEG) and with this strategic acquisition, the company is continuing the growth of the clean energy portfolio of the company along with expanding the company’s footprint into the electricity market of New York.
Alicia Barton, chief executive officer and president of FirstLight said that, with several strategic partnerships and acquisitions and 2022 has been an exciting year for growth of FirstLight and they are also pleased for now being able to directly delivering the clean energy to the people of New York on a daily bases through their acquisition to the Allegheny hydroelectric facilities.
Alicia Barton said, they are also excited for welcoming the Allegheny Hydro employees to their talented team of FirstLight, who have been collectively possessing the vast experience that is operating the storage and renewable assets.
