UK Orders Additional 114 Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccines

On Wednesday, 1^st December 2021, the government of the United Kingdom said, it has now ordered 114 million additional doses of the novel corona virus vaccine from the pharmaceuticals companies including Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna for the purpose of bolstering the country’s corona virus vaccination drive over the upcoming two years.

The order is including 54 million additional doses of Pfizer covid-19 vaccine and 60 million extra doses of Moderna covid-19 vaccine as the United Kingdom has been expanding its corona virus booster program followed by the newly identified Omicron corona virus variant.

United Kingdom has also set a target of two months for the purpose of giving third vaccine doses to all the adults, who are aged more than 18 years of age after increasing the eligibility and decreasing the time needed to three months since getting the second dose.

Sajid Javid, health secretary of the United Kingdom said, these new deals of vaccine addition is going to be future proofing the vaccination effort of the United Kingdom, which has successfully delivered over 115 million vaccines first, second and booster covid-19 vaccine jabs across the United Kingdom so far.

Sajid Javid also said, this has been a national mission and their best weapon for dealing with the novel corona virus and its continuously emerging variants is to get the vaccine jabs in the arms.

While announcing the new orders of vaccines, the UK Department of Health said, United Kingdom has remained committed for donating 100 million corona virus vaccine doses to the countries, which are in need by 2022.
